Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most from the families we serve.

How much life insurance do I actually need?

It depends on what you want the money to do. Many families start by adding up final expenses, any remaining debt, and the income a household would lose. A licensed agent can walk through those numbers with you at no cost so the amount is based on your situation rather than a guess.

Can I get life insurance after age 65?

Yes. Whole life, final expense, and guaranteed issue policies are commonly written for applicants in their sixties, seventies, and beyond. Premiums and available coverage amounts depend on age, health, and carrier rules.

Do I need a medical exam?

Not always. Many final expense and guaranteed issue policies use health questions instead of an exam, and some ask no health questions at all. Fully underwritten policies usually offer lower rates but may require an exam.

What is the difference between term and whole life?

Term life covers you for a set number of years and pays only if you pass away during that period. Whole life is permanent, has a level premium, and builds cash value over time.

Will my rate go up as I get older?

With whole life and final expense policies the premium is generally locked in when the policy is issued. Term policies keep the same rate for the term, then renew at a higher age based rate.
